Alexander Nix

Nigel Oakes was educated at Eton College and UCL, where he studied Psychology. In 1982 he joined Monte Carlo TV as a producer and in 1985 became the Head of International Production. Two years later, Nigel joined Saatchi and Saatchi as a Senior Producer. In 1989, he established the Behavioural Dynamics Working Group at University College London and in 1990 the Behavioural Dynamics Institute (BDi) was formed as a centre of excellence and a research facility for strategic communication. In 1993 Nigel set up Strategic Communication Laboratories and using the new communication methodology from BDi, ran election campaigns and national communication campaigns for a broad variety of international governments. Published clients include South Africa, USA, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Antigua, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Grenada, Nepal, Pakistan and Switzerland. 

Alexander Nix was educated at Eton College and Manchester University. He began his career as a financial analyst with Baring Securities in Mexico. In 1998 he moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he was co-founding partner of an eCRM and telephony outsourcing business. Between 1999 and 2001 he developed the business across the Mercosur region. In 2001 he returned to the UK to work for Robert Fraser & Partners LLP, a boutique Corporate Finance and tax advisory firm. Shortly after, he joined Robert Fraser Corporate Finance, where, as an Assistant Director, he worked as principal and in an advisory capacity on UK M&A and transaction work. In 2003 Alexander joined SCL as a Director. Aside from managing the operations of the business, his responsibilities included growing SCL internationally, together with developing new markets for SCL’s many behavioural products and services.

Dan Muresan
Head of Elections

Alex Oakes was educated at Eton College, Brookes University, Oxford and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, before moving to Hong Kong in 1992 to work with Cazenove & Co. In 1994 he was headhunted to run Drax Myanmar Ltd, an enterprising new venture in Burma, as Operations Director. In 1998, he joined Strategic Communication Laboratories, running the financial and administrative aspects of the business. In 2003, Alex established The Diagnostic Clinic with ex-Orange founder Hans Snook to introduce a one-stop diagnostic facility in London before handing over to a new CEO and returning to SCL as Finance Director.

Dan brings to SCL extensive expertise in strategic communications and political campaign management.  He held various roles on a number of campaigns in Virginia and Texas before joining Marsh Copsey + Associates, a leading US-based political consultancy, where he worked as a media and general consultant on US campaigns for state and federal office and in support of various causes and referenda, as well as advising clients in half a dozen foreign countries. Dan was educated at Downside School, the London School of Economics and George Washington University. He holds a Masters in Nationalism and one in Political Management.

Aoife O’Gorman

Stacy manages all of SCL Social's projects and behavior communication campaigns globally, within both the developing and developed world. She has been an advisor to the Government of Rwanda on a variety of issues including media sector development, Savings Mobilization and Small Medium Enterprise policies. She has also worked with the UNDP, World Food Program and other major development partners. Prior to joining SCL Stacy worked as an advisor to a Member of the British Parliament where she advised on numerous topics which had a direct affect of society such as sex education, crime and prisons and multi-cultural issues. She has also worked in the Middle East, Japan, the Americas and Europe. A native of Houston, Texas, Stacy holds a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Marketing and a MA in International Relations.

As Office Manager for SCL, Aoife is responsible for the planning, organising, and controlling the clerical aspect of the organisation, including the preparation, communication, coordination and storage of data to support production and other important operations within SCL. Before joining SCL, Aoife worked in Project Management in Australia, helping to establish the Project Management Office within the largest energy company in Western Australia. She also has previous experience working in the banking industry in Ireland. Aoife has a BA in Business Management and is a certified Prince 2 practitioner.

Churchill Hammond

Ben, as well as being part of the team that ensures the smooth running of the company, also handles special project finance and small facilitation operations. Ben is a part qualified accountant who has been with SCL for nearly 2 years after becoming an engineering graduate from the University of Sheffield and extensive travel and work around south America and south east asia.

Churchill Hammond is a Research Specialist at SCL Social, where he assists with behavioural research for social campaigns. Prior to his position at SCL, he worked on policy research on a number of gubernatorial and senatorial elections throughout the United States. He received his bachelor’s degree of political science at the University of Maine and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration.

Jack Davidson
Project Manager

After completing his BA Hons in International Development from the University of East Anglia, David recently graduated with an MSc from the LSE. David has worked as a research assistant for the Medical Research Council UK in Uganda, a World Bank project on Malaria in Nigeria and as a consultant for Oxfam UK. He is the founding trustee and board member of the German development organisation Go Ahead! and an associate with the office of MP Lars Klingbeil. David has four years experience in working for the American Field Service in Germany and gained two years development country exposure during placements in South Africa, Kenya and Uganda. His areas of interests are private sector development, trade, HIV/AIDS, malaria and financial markets.

Jack is a project manager at SCL, working on projects in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and Eastern Europe. He studied Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Nottingham, specializing in Latin America and the Iberian peninsular. He speaks Spanish, French and Portuguese fluently. Jack graduated with a Masters in Environment and Development from King's College London. His expertise is overall project management, research implentation and strategy creation. His experience in social research has made him a vital part of the implementation of SCL methodology across the SCL group.

Kai Stormer

Jonathan took over as the Finance Manager SCL Group in January 2011. He assists the Finance Director and is responsible for a finance function at SCL. Jonathan is a qualified accountant. Before Joining SCL he read physics and philosophy at Bristol university before going on to study law, being called to the bar in 2007. Subsequently Jonathan joined Nyman Libson Paul as an auditor, completing his training contract in December 2010.

Kai is responsible for a number of projects specializing in the Middle East and Central Asia. He provides quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of Strategic Communication Campaigns based on client interests. Kai is also responsible for drafting and submitting proposals for potential future projects. Kai holds a Masters Degree in International Peace and Security from the Department of War Studies at King’s College London and a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences from Maastricht University, the Netherlands.

Kate is currently completing an MSc in Development Studies at the London School of Economics, focussing on health policy and health education, and intervention evaluation. Her areas of interest include HIV/AIDS, malaria, and sexual and reproductive health. Holding a BA in Economics and Politics from the University of York, Kate has previously worked with the British Red Cross developing and delivering HIV/AIDS education in the UK, and with the Ghana Education Project in Nkwanta, Ghana, assisting local project development. 

Kieran has worked as a graphic designer in some of the most prestigious agencies in London, including McCann Erickson, Publicis, Leagas Delaney and DHM - where he was Head of Design and Production. He is skilled and experienced in all areas of graphic design, from designing websites to printed brochures, brand identities to advertising campaigns. He has worked as head designer on global and award-winning campaigns for luxury phone brand Vertu, Whisky brand The Macallan and the Economist. Whilst at SCL he has been integral in producing creative strategy for many successful elections, media projects and online campaigns. He has delivered creative solutions for projects in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. He is passionate about marrying creativity, business knowledge and technical understanding to deliver outstanding results.

Michael J. Leavitt
Director of Public Affairs, USA Division

As Project Manager, she has been responsible for a number of projects specializing in security issues in the Americas. She has worked in the French Consulate in Miami as the head of the Latin America desk. She also has experience working in both risk analysis firms as well as international think tanks based in Paris and Washington DC. She holds a MA degree in International Security from King’s College London and has a five-year diploma in Political Science from the French Institute of Political Studies IEP Aix-en-Provence. 

Michael has extensive experience in the operational, public relations and media affairs components of political organizations and campaigns. He has served as Chief of Staff to the Republican National Committee (RNC), and as the RNC’s Regional Political Director in the Mid-Atlantic. Prior to his work at the RNC, Michael served as the Vice President of Political Affairs at Freedom’s Watch, a non-profit political 501(c)(3). Michael was the Deputy National Political Director to the John McCain Presidential campaign, and the Campaign Manager for Michael Steele for Maryland in 2006. He also has lobbying experience in the nation’s capitol as an Associate at Cassidy & Associates, in Washington, D.C. Michael received his B.A at the University of Maine and his MBA at Husson College.

Natasha Mayer
Director of Public Relations

 Simon has been responsible for managing projects in South Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. He is also involved in internal and external training for project members, and report writing and presenting.  Prior to joining SCL, he worked in various positions in NGOs, primarily focusing on health education in developing countries. He holds a MA (Hons) degree in Psychology from Edinburgh University and is an accredited PRINCE 2 (Projects in Controlled Environments) Registered Practitioner.

Natasha comes to SCL with a broad range of media, strategic communications and public relations experience. As a news producer for Voice of America, she was instrumental in the launch of the first U.S. Government television broadcast into Pakistan. She was a producer for Fox News Channel where she worked on various programs developing stories appealing to the Fox News audience. Among her international projects was the management of Zagros TV in Iraq and Wattan TV in the West Bank. In the U.S, she has worked on numerous campaigns and projects as a senior communications consultant and is the author of a weekly political column. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in Film and Television production.

Tom Wein
Project Manager

Tom is a Project Leader at SCL. He has led several SCL research projects focusing on locations across the Middle East and Southwest Asia, and contributed research and analysis to numerous SCL projects. He is the author of White Papers on reforming RMA Sandhurst and British military communication, and his recent paper on strategy in Afghanistan was listed on NATO’s recommended reading list. Prior to joining SCL, Tom read War Studies at King’s College, London.
